  3. Librarians, shareware distributors, sysops, etc:

  5. This is release 1.42  The previous release may be named SURVEY LAND YOURSELF
  6. in the late versions, or SURVEY IT YOURSELF in the earliest pre-release.
  7. It is archived in two files, SLY14?A & SLY14?B.
  8.  
  9. Please proliferate the information on this disk.  Feel free to do so for free,
  10. or to charge a reasonable materials & copying fee (less than five bux).

  12. You may compress the files at your convenience, fill the empty space with other
  13. shareware or advertising, and distribute files or parts of files with other
  14. shareware.  Your customers abhor a 1/2 empty disk!
  15.  
  16. For an update, write or call.  Your customers will appreciate a fresh version.
  17. If you don't give a <EXCRETIVE DELETED> about your customers, don't bother with
  18. the update.  You won't be in business long enuf for me to reply.
  19.  
  20. There are six groups of files.
  21.  
  22. First is header files, such as "README, COPYRIGHT, REGISTRATION, WARRANTY".
  23.  
  24. Second is "SIY*.TXT", "Survey It Yourself: A Quick, Easy, and Inexpensive
  25. Preliminary Estimate Using the Compass & Tape Method".
  26.  
  27. Third is "CAVEMAP1", my personal program (in GW-BASIC) to handle the data and
  28. draw a map on the printer.  There are also several graphs, tables, and examples
  29. to be used with CAVEMAP.

  31. This third group has been moved to another disk (SLY14?B) so that your 360KB
  32. disk customers may still use this disk.
  33.  
  34. Fourth is "RETIRE", some information about cheap land for sale here in the
  35. Kentucky Boonies, a good place to retire young or just have a vacation place.
  36.  
  37. Fifth is FILLER, since Nature abhors a 1/2 empty disk.  See DIRECTRY.TXT for a
  38. file by file description.
  39.  
  40. Last is TAILER, files which should be at the end of the directory.
  41.  
  42. I suggest that authors write short advertisements to be included on other disks,
  43. and that we leave room on our disks for advertising space.
  44.  
  45. Your customers might be amused by MS_BAT.
  46.  
  47. There's also SIY2LINR.BAS, a BASIC 2 liner for your collection.

  49. If you are dissatisfied with your mailers, then you should read MAILERS.TXT
  50. My mailers can easily ship a disk & cover letter for two ounces.  I can even
  51. mail two disks for 2 oz, if I enclose nothing else.
